"What's New for the New Year?"..........TURQUOISE!!!!!

By Anita Hill..

Well, THE WORD IS OUT!!!....and according to Pantone, the official color experts, the new "it" color is TURQUOISE! This year we will see turquoise everything, apparel, accessories, make-up, even home fashions and electronics. Hmmmm.......This is interesting, last Spring we saw a lot of blues, but mostly darker hues like navy. Many are saying its kind of symbolic, since last year many of us were suffering from depression because of the recession, and we definitely had the blues. But this year, things are expected to be a lot brighter....and we're starting with our wardrobes. A few celebrities have already been spotted in the latest trend, please view a few of my fav's.

A Men's Guide For First Date Fashion...

What In The World Should I Wear On This First Date??

By Contributing Writer:
Kendrick Scott

I know the first question that we ask ourselves after a date has been set is “What In The World Should I Wear”?? Many factors weigh in on this SO expressive question for oneself.

What Type Of Date Are We Going On?

Casual dinner: I don’t know about you guys but I believe this has to be the most common first date of choice. A chain restaurant, neighborhood sandwich shop, and coffee shops just to name a few. You shouldn’t overdue it with a suit or a tuxedo Lol. Try a polo shirt or even a t-shirt, denims or khakis and a pair of sneakers.

Fine Dining Restaurant: A fine dining restaurant on a first date is surely a way to show your first date that you like the “finer” things in life. A chic suit with a tie would be a great choice. To add the ultimate kick, put on those cufflinks. A pair of well buffed dressed shoes and appropriate socks (no football socks) should cover the footwear.

A Night Out On The Town: A night on the town is one of my favorites for the first date. Going from bar to bar or just cruising the city street could be an adventurous first date. A cool sports coat, button up shirt with a couple buttons unbuttoned, form fitting pants (no size 40 when you actually wear a size 36) and a pair of comfortable loafers should make it complete.

"Remember all that glitter isn’t gold and DO NOT go overboard doing something that’s out of your comfort zone. Whatever fashion choice you make “Wear It and Wear It Like You Own The Night”.

Do You Have the Blues! Spring 2009

We're all anticipating Spring to break... I don't know about you but I'm "blue" with excitement.. Contributing writer & stylista Anita Hill has spotted a new color trend this spring...

"This season, the new purple is blue. Last season, purple was virtually everywhere. We saw so many shades of purple, (some I didn’t even know existed). There was lavender, eggplant, plum, and all of the royal hues in between. Not only did we see every shade of purple, but we saw every shade of purple in everything. There were purple handbags, boots, jewelry, jeans, dress suits, and much more.

Well, this season, the new purple is blue. Especially bold blues like electric royal blue, teal, and turquoise. Also, for the more conservative professionals, sailor navy will replace the basic blacks in this season’s wardrobe. For the last decade, blue has been so hard to find. However, this season blue will be found in many varieties. You will find handbags, shoes, business suits, and more. So watch out….because this season, we’re going to have the blues"!

KATE'S ON THE COVER OF ELLE

Photobucket
Ohhhhh, how I adore Kate Hudson's Yellow Dior Dress... The "BRIDEWARS" star graced the cover of ELLE's February issue wearing this BOLD ensemble.. I must say she wears it well...I searched to find pricing on the dress but caught a dead end... I guess not knowing the $$ is still knowing because anything Dior is way above what my pockets can dish out.. But that still won't stop my grind to add this color to my spring/summer wardrobe..
Look at these similar dresses, tell me what you think!!!

"IF I WERE A BOY"

Photobucket Do you remember back in the day when us girls wore our jeans 2X's bigger then their actual size? And the baggy look was poppin' all of the place...Apparently, fashion has lead us back to those "If I Were A Boy" days but in a more classier manner.. Here we have Zoe Saldana strutting her "boyish" swag while keeping it trendy chic... Chk out a few items I found to emulate that boy look...

STYLE TIP: PEARLS GALORE

There are days when I feel like getting my young professional look on.. & pearls are a GREAT way to do so.. Draping tons of pearls are the easiest way to enhance a look from dull to fab... Not only can you layer it but you can add your own flair with additional pieces such as a diamond necklace to incorporate that extra bling...

Take my girl Carrie Bradshaw (Sex In The City) she took pearl draping to a whole other level..
Photobucket
Although a bit dramatic, you can see the way she enhanced her look literally...And don't get me wrong, it isn't necessary to drape as many as she did.. But finding you own swag with the pearls should be recognized through your OWN style... Don't forget..you can even pair pearls with jeans & tees to give that young, chic look as well...
